From the six-week check to the teenage years, our GPs look after Toongabbie families with patience and plain explanations. Appointments are bulk billed for children with a Medicare card, and same-day appointments are held for kids who are unwell.

Care that grows with your child.
Children are not small adults. Our GPs take the time to make appointments calm, explain things at the right level and involve parents in every decision.
Toongabbie Doctors is a family practice. Dr Zainab Shirazi has a particular interest in children's health and Dr Mustafa Hafiz in paediatrics and family medicine, and every GP in the practice sees children of all ages. Our consulting rooms are designed with families in mind, and Toongabbie Dental Care shares the clinic so check-ups can be booked together.
Babies and toddlers
Newborn and six-week checks, feeding and sleep concerns, growth and development milestones, rashes, reflux, fevers and the many questions that come with a new baby. We follow the NSW Blue Book schedule and coordinate with your child and family health nurse.

Childhood immunisations
All National Immunisation Program vaccines are given on site by our GPs and practice nurses at 6 weeks, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 4 years and in adolescence, and are free for eligible children. We record every vaccine on the Australian Immunisation Register, which you can check through myGov.

Unwell child? Call reception from 8am. We hold same-day appointments for children who need to be seen that day.

School-age children and teenagers
Asthma and allergy plans for school, eczema, recurrent infections, tummy troubles, headaches, growth and puberty questions, behaviour and learning concerns, and adolescent health including mental wellbeing. Teenagers can see the doctor alone if they wish, and we explain confidentiality clearly.

Children's appointments and National Immunisation Program vaccines are bulk billed for children with a valid Medicare card.

Standard GP consultations at Toongabbie Doctors are bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card, so there is no out-of-pocket cost to see your doctor.
Some vaccines outside the National Immunisation Program, such as meningococcal B for children not in eligible groups, are privately purchased and attract a fee.
Eligible children can also be bulk billed for dental care at Toongabbie Dental Care under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
Long appointments are available for developmental or behavioural concerns.

Yes. GP consultations for children with a valid Medicare card are bulk billed, with no out-of-pocket cost. National Immunisation Program vaccines are free for eligible children.
Call reception on (02) 7813 6000 from 8am. We hold same-day appointments for unwell children. If your child is very unwell, struggling to breathe, floppy or you are worried, call 000 or go to Westmead Children's Hospital emergency.
Yes. All scheduled vaccines are given at the clinic by our GPs and practice nurses and recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register. Bring the Blue Book to each visit.
Yes. Young people can attend on their own, and what they discuss is confidential unless their safety is at risk. Many teenagers prefer to see Dr Shirazi or Dr Hafiz; either can be requested.
Yes. If your GP feels a specialist opinion would help, they can refer to public paediatric clinics, including at Westmead, or to private paediatricians, and explain the options.
Toongabbie Dental Care operates inside the clinic and sees children. Eligible children are bulk billed under the Child Dental Benefits Schedule.
