Western Sydney has some of the highest rates of type 2 diabetes in the country. Managing it well is mostly about regular, unhurried reviews, and having a dietitian and physiotherapist in the same building helps.
Three ways to book: HotDoc · online · or by phone.

Diabetes rewards consistency far more than intensity. That is what a regular review cycle is for.
Type 2 diabetes develops when the body becomes resistant to insulin and cannot keep blood glucose in the normal range. It is common, it is manageable, and the complications that people fear are largely preventable with steady monitoring and treatment adjustment.
Diagnosis is made on blood tests: fasting glucose, an oral glucose tolerance test, or HbA1c, which reflects average blood sugar over about three months. Symptoms worth testing for include increased thirst, passing urine more often, tiredness, blurred vision, slow-healing cuts and recurring infections — but many people have none.
If you have a family history, are over 40, carry weight around the middle, or come from a South Asian, Pacific Islander, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander background, ask about testing even without symptoms.
Medicare funds a structured annual cycle for people with diabetes: HbA1c every three to six months, blood pressure at each visit, cholesterol and kidney function yearly, a foot check at least annually, an eye examination every one to two years, weight and lifestyle review, and a check on medicines and immunisations.
These two checks prevent the complications that cause the most harm. Reduced sensation means a foot wound may not hurt until it is serious, and early retinal changes cause no symptoms at all. Both are arranged as part of your cycle of care, with podiatry available under a care plan.
Our dietitian Anagha Chaudhari works from this clinic and can be seen under a care plan with a Medicare rebate. Our physiotherapists help with the activity side. NDSS registration gives you subsidised test strips and other supplies, and we can arrange it.

Questions about living with diabetes.
Every three to six months for most people, more often if your treatment has recently changed or control is unstable.
Some people achieve remission with substantial weight loss and sustained lifestyle change, particularly early after diagnosis. It is worth discussing honestly with your GP rather than chasing claims online.
It helps a great deal. Anagha Chaudhari works from this clinic and can be seen with a Medicare rebate under a care plan.
Diabetes can reduce sensation, so a wound may not hurt until it is serious. An annual foot check catches the early changes that lead to most complications.
The National Diabetes Services Scheme provides subsidised test strips, needles and other supplies. Registration is free and we can complete it with you.
