Childhood immunisations
All vaccines on the National Immunisation Program schedule are given at the clinic at 6 weeks, 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months, 4 years and in adolescence, free for eligible children. Our GPs and nurses are experienced with anxious children and parents, and every dose is recorded on the Australian Immunisation Register, which you can view through myGov or the Medicare app.

Adult vaccinations
Annual influenza vaccination, free under the NIP for people aged 65 and over, pregnant women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and those with certain medical conditions, and available privately for others. COVID-19 vaccines and boosters. Shingles vaccine, free for people aged 65 and over and some other groups. Whooping cough boosters for adults, new parents and grandparents. Pneumococcal vaccines for older adults and those at risk. Tetanus boosters after injuries.
Good to know
Whooping cough and influenza vaccines are recommended in every pregnancy and are free for pregnant women. RSV vaccination in pregnancy is also available.

Travel health
Book a travel consultation six to eight weeks before you leave. Your GP reviews your itinerary and health, advises on vaccines such as hepatitis A and B, typhoid, yellow fever, rabies, Japanese encephalitis and meningococcal disease, and discusses malaria prevention, traveller's diarrhoea, altitude and safety. Travel vaccines are privately purchased and attract a fee; the consultation is bulk billed.

Catch-up and records
Missed vaccines can be caught up at any age. If your records are incomplete, your GP can check the Australian Immunisation Register and arrange serology (blood tests for immunity) where needed, for example for work or study requirements.

The consultation is bulk billed for Medicare card holders. National Immunisation Program vaccines are free for eligible patients; other vaccines are privately purchased.

Standard GP consultations at Toongabbie Doctors are bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card, so there is no out-of-pocket cost to see your doctor.
Free NIP vaccines include the childhood schedule, and influenza, shingles and pneumococcal vaccines for eligible groups.
Travel vaccines and vaccines outside eligibility criteria are purchased privately; reception confirms the price before your appointment.
Some travel vaccines, such as yellow fever, may require referral to an accredited travel clinic.

Vaccines on the National Immunisation Program are free for eligible people: the full childhood schedule, and influenza, shingles, pneumococcal and some other vaccines for eligible age groups and conditions. Your GP checks your eligibility.
Six to eight weeks before departure is ideal, as some vaccines need more than one dose or take time to work. If you are leaving sooner, book anyway; there is usually still protection we can offer.
Yes. Book one appointment per person and let reception know so they are scheduled together.
Through your myGov account linked to Medicare, or the Express Plus Medicare app. Your GP can also print a statement from the Australian Immunisation Register.
Influenza, whooping cough and RSV vaccines are recommended in pregnancy and protect your baby in the first months of life. Your GP will discuss timing with you.
