Everything worth knowing before, during and after a visit to Toongabbie Doctors — bulk billing and fees, what to bring as a new patient, appointments and hours, results, telehealth, after-hours care, privacy and MyMedicare.

Open Monday to Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm and Saturday 8:00am – 1:00pm. No referral needed to see a GP.

Standard consultations are bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card. Reception will always confirm any private fee before your appointment.

Book

Online through HotDoc, or ring (02) 7813 6000. Tell reception roughly what it is about so they can set aside the right amount of time.

Arrive ten minutes early

First visit only. Bring photo ID, your Medicare card, any concession card, and a list of your medicines or the boxes.

See your GP

Standard consultations run for 15 minutes. Raise the important thing first rather than at the door — and say if you have a list.

Bloods and follow-up

4Cyte collects on site, so tests can usually be done straight after. Book the results appointment before you leave.

Toongabbie Doctors is an appointment-based practice. Standard consultations run for 15 minutes and we are currently accepting new patients.

If this is your first visit, please arrive at least ten minutes early so reception can register you.

What to bring to your first appointment

  • Photo ID - required for every consultation.
  • A current Medicare card, plus any concession, pensioner or DVA card.
  • A list of your current medicines, or simply bring the boxes.
  • Any recent letters, discharge summaries or results from a hospital or specialist.
  • WorkCover patients: please notify your employer and bring their contact details so payment can be arranged.

Toongabbie Doctors is a bulk billing practice. Standard GP consultations are bulk billed for patients with a valid Medicare card. Services that Medicare does not cover attract a private fee - reception will tell you the amount before your appointment.

Please leave a clear message with reception and your doctor will return your call when possible.

An appointment is required for all repeat prescriptions so your GP can review what you are taking. For stable medicines a telehealth consultation often works. Electronic prescriptions are sent to your phone.

A follow-up appointment is usually required to receive results. Book the follow-up when the test is ordered. If you have had a test and heard nothing, please ring us rather than assuming all is well.

Telehealth is available for existing patients. If you have respiratory symptoms, please book telehealth rather than sitting in the waiting room.

In an emergency, call 000. For urgent care, call Healthdirect on 1800 022 222. For after-hours home visits call 13SICK on 13 74 25.

Toongabbie Doctors is bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and complies with the NSW Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002. All patient information is private and confidential.

Electronic medical information is transmitted in encrypted form. We do not accept clinical enquiries by email, and we do not send patient information to personal email addresses.

If you need a language interpreter, tell reception when you book. You can also contact TIS on 1800 555 660 or 131 450. For Auslan, book through NABS at nabs.org.au or call 1800 246 945.

If you are dissatisfied, please raise it with reception or our practice manager. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission at hccc.nsw.gov.au.

We run a recall and reminder system for screening, immunisations and care plan reviews. If you prefer not to be contacted, tell reception.

We are at Tenancy A, 56-60 Aurelia Street, Toongabbie NSW 2146. Free parking: enter from rear Cox Lane, 50 underground spaces, lift to centre. Step-free throughout.

Toongabbie Doctors has a strict no-smoking policy. We ask all patients and visitors to treat our team and other patients with courtesy.

Standard consultations are bulk billed when you present a valid Medicare card. Some services attract a private fee; reception will confirm before your appointment.

These assessments attract a private fee, payable on the day. They usually need a longer appointment - tell reception when you book.

Skin cancer checks and procedures attract a private fee. Reception will confirm the amount when you book.

Allied health services

Allied health without a GP referral letter and care plan are payable privately. Bring a valid GP referral letter and a Medicare rebate applies. Counselling with Francesca Palazzolo is not bulk billed.

MBS rates apply

Private health insurance

Private health insurance is accepted and MBS rates apply. We accept Bupa, AHM, Medibank, Allianz and NIB. A gap fee is charged only where your insurance does not cover the full MBS rate (e.g. item 23 + 75870 = $67.45).

$50 fee

Missed appointments

A $50 fee applies to appointments missed without at least two hours notice and must be paid before your next booking.

Transfer of medical history

Ask reception for a transfer request. Transfers can take a few weeks, and a fee may apply.

Payment is required on the day for any private fee.Card and EFTPOS accepted. Medicare rebates are processed on the spot.
